The Forgotten Ornament by Erik Daniel Shein

This is a very sweet story about a broken ornament that gets looked over for the Christmas tree. After making a special wish, the bear ornament gets a wonderful surprise for Christmas.

I read this to my students as part of a class project. I teach kindergarten and the students enjoyed the story very much. We were able to take home stuffed animals that we used to decorate our tree at the school. This project objective focused on helping the students understand the responsibility of taking care of animals. The students each received a book of their own to take home during the holidays to share with their families during the Holiday Season. Thanks to all involved for helping spread the importance of reading among children everywhere!

This Christmas tale tells the the story of Willie Bear, a broken ornament who can’t participate in a magical event where all of the intact ornaments acquire the ability to speak at midnight on Christmas Eve. Willy is eventually placed on the tree, and he shares with other ornaments a wonderful connection. He helps them fulfill their wishes, as each receives a special gift for the Holiday.
