That’s what we do. We create, and help others to create.

We publish established authors, writers and professionals but also work with first-time authors who come to us because of our reputation for turning quality manuscripts into a published reality for those that might have been ignored or under-served by other publishers.

We believe in the opportunities presented by making our titles available as ebooks but also believe that printed books are not going away any time soon. Our infrastructure has been developed from the ground up to cover the old and the new when it comes to publishing.

Our business philosophy is to work with authors, treat them with respect and provide more favorable rights retention and better royalty rates than what is available from other publishing houses.

As a book developer we also have writing and ghostwriting talent to develop any concept or premise into a professional manuscript for publication.

From Dennis Lowery, CEO of Adducent, Inc.

I believe as Ben Franklin did:

write things worth reading, or do things worth writing

I’m an author, writer, screenplay developer and entrepreneur; the founder and president of Adducent, Inc. and developer of four (currently) publishing imprints:  Fortis (nonfiction), Escrire (fiction), Booknology (business & education) and ONEWorld (children’s boooks). I’m also a Navy veteran and served as an Operations Specialist. I’ve traveled to 30+ countries while in the military, on business and for pleasure.

I am a member of the Military Writers Society of America and the National Association of Independent Writers and Editors. While writing and publishing have become my main focus, over the past 20+ years I’ve owned manufacturing, trucking, logistics and business service companies. As a business consultant I’ve worked with hundreds of business owners and professionals to develop and improve their business operations and to increase the value of their efforts.

My writing interests and publication of my own books and articles (and love of the process) led to opportunities to expand my business ventures to include writing (my own and for clients) and publishing and writer assistance services—which has been received with tremendous interest from:

  • Veterans
  • Military / Foreign Policy & Defense Industry Professionals
  • Government / Intelligence & Security Agency Professionals
  • Business Executives & Professionals

About Our Publishing Operations

Our business model as a publisher focuses on the use of print on demand (POD) technology for print versions of our titles. This offers significant environmental advantages over traditional offset manufacturing, which is the primary method of most traditional publishers. Technology is at the point where POD offers comparable quality and economic production costs as an attractive alternative to offset manufacturing. When necessary we utilize our POD technology to produce volume runs of our titles as ordered by booksellers and retailers and this drives the production costs down even further.

With offset manufacturing books often go unsold and are destroyed, usually after being shipped and handled multiple times. This is tremendously inefficient and environmentally irresponsible. Wasted paper, wasted energy, greenhouse emissions, pulping, and landfill overflows can result. The environmental advantages of utilizing POD technology allow books to be printed to fill an existing demand. POD lessens the possibility of returns, reduces supply chain waste, greenhouse emissions, and conserves valuable natural resources.

Any business that uses forestry derived materials in their business operations or as a product should follow environmentally responsible forestry practices. For which, our production facility for book manufacturing received these certifications:

  • Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®)
  • Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®)
  • Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC™)

That facility has also received Chain of Custody (CoC) certification from:

  • The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®)
  • Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC™)
  • The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®).

Chain of Custody (CoC) is an accounting system that tracks wood fiber through the different stages of production: from the forest, to the mill, to the paper, to the printer and ultimately to the finished book. For publishers, and ultimately consumers, CoC ensures the integrity of the paper supply chain and that the paper used in our printed books are from responsibly managed forests.

If you are a writer with plans to publish, when you work with a publisher, please ask them about what environmentally responsible book manufacturing practices they comply with.
